My first advice to landowners is to always attempt to resolve your drone concerns by communicating with the drone pilot. Landowners only own so much of the air space above their property that can be reasonably used in connection with their land below. A landowners privacy does extend to a certain height above their property. A drone flying over someones property is not "illegal" or an invasion of privacy, unless you believe the drone is being operated; Dangerously Recklessly Negligently AND will likely endanger the safety of people or aircraft . You can report the event to the Government of Canada. Or there is "intention" to "collect" personal information without the owners consent. This example "might" be a violation of someone's privacy depending on the circumstances. If you believe a drone pilot might be violating your privacy, you can try to communicate with them and ask to see their content. Trespassing A drone flying or hovering over your property is not trespassing. A drone would be trespassing if it, took off, landed or crashed on private property. Although this is considered trespassing, you are obliged to return the drone to its owner. Refusing to return the drone to its owner may result in legal action against you.
